Edgar Cayce's Atlantis

Edgar Cayce expert, Dr. Greg Little, discussed the life and work of Cayce and also presented an update on the search for Atlantis. Edgar began having visions when he was just seven years old, and an angelic entity granted him his wish to help sick people, Little recounted. Cayce was dubbed "the Sleeping Prophet" by the New York Times as he gave his readings in a trance state, and he was one of the first to present the idea of holistic health to America.

The topic of Atlantis came up numerous times during Cayce's readings, said Little. The civilization, according to Cayce, began around 200,000 years ago and stretched from the Straits of Gibraltar to the Bahamas. Its final destruction occurred around 10,000 BC, but priests who used crystals to "communicate with other worlds" were warned about the coming cataclysm. This led them to construct three "Hall of Records," which were located in Egypt (under the Sphinx), at Piedras Negras, Guatemala and near the Bimini Islands.

Little detailed his underwater investigations at Bimini and Andros Islands-- his most recent trip there was in May 2005. In regards to what is called the "Bimini Road," he described a formation of six-sided rectangular slabs which are 2ft. by 3ft. each. The stones were not actually part of a road, but rather composed a harbor works, that was used as a huge breakwater for maritime activity, he suggested. Little said that seven different categories prove these stones were man-made, and they probably date back at least 10,000 years.

Biography:

Dr. Greg Little is a psychologist turned explorer and documentary maker. Since 2003, Greg and his wife Lora have been actively searching the Bahamas for archaeological ruins that might be linked to Atlantis, working with the Edgar Cayce organization in its Search For Atlantis Project. Along with archaeologist Bill Donato, the Littles have conducted wide explorations around Bimini, Andros, and the Great Bahama Bank. Their explorations have been featured on The National Geographic Channel, The Learning Channel, MSNBC, Sci-Fi, Discovery, and The History Channel. Greg is coauthor of the books, Edgar Cayce's Atlantis, Mound Builders, Ancient South America, and People of the Web and has over 30 other books in print in various areas of psychology.

Wikipedia
Edgar Cayce (/ˈkeɪsiː/; March 18, 1877 -- January 3, 1945) was an American psychic who allegedly possessed the ability to answer questions on subjects such as healing and wars, and even had visions of the world ending.[citation needed] He also gave a reading about Atlantis while in a hypnotic trance. Cayce founded a nonprofit organization, the Association for Research and Enlightenment. Though Cayce himself was a devout member of the Disciples of Christ and lived before the emergence of the New Age Movement, some believe he was actually the founder of the movement and influenced its teachings.

Cayce became a celebrity toward the end of his life and he believed the publicity given to his prophecies overshadowed the more important parts of his work, such as healing the sick and studying religion. Skeptics[3] challenge Cayce's alleged psychic abilities and traditional Christians also question his unorthodox answers on religious matters such as reincarnation and Akashic records. However others accept his abilities as "God-given".

Controversy and criticism

Cayce had advocated some controversial and eccentric ideas from his trance readings. In many of Cayce's trance sessions he had reinterpreted the history of life on earth. One of Cayce's controversial claims was that of polygenism. According to Cayce, five human races (white, black, red, brown and yellow), had been created separately but simultaneously on different parts of the earth. Cayce also accepted the existence of Atlantis and had claimed that "the red race developed in Atlantis and its development was rapid". Another claim by Cayce was that "soul-entities" on earth had intercourse with animals to produce giants that were as much as twelve feet tall.

Olav Hammer wrote that many of Cayce's readings discussed race and skin color and that the explanation for this is that Cayce was not a racist but was influenced by the occult ideas of Madame Blavatsky. Robert Todd Carroll, in his book The Skeptic's Dictionary wrote, "Cayce is one of the main people responsible for some of the sillier notions about Atlantis." Carroll mentioned some of Cayce's notions, which included his belief in a giant crystal ball used to power energy on Atlantis and his prediction that in 1958 the United States would discover a death ray that had been used on Atlantis
